Employee Spotlights

 
The heart of MapleWorks is our smart and energetic people. We employ the brightest people in engineering, project management, finance, administration, and human resources. MapleWorks advocates a work/life balance, but it’s interesting to hear how many of our employees tinker in the technical domain outside of work!
 
We surveyed a sample of our employees to see how they balance work and life.

Peter
 
Work: What Peter enjoys most about being part of the MapleWorks team is the variety of projects that come through the door. They keep him challenged and interested.
 
Life: In his spare time, Peter likes to cycle, travel, and stay current on new web technologies.
 
Miki
 
Work: Prior to joining MapleWorks, Miki, enjoyed a wide range of finance experience from the hi-tech sector to the not-for-profit sector. She feels that two of the best things about working at MapleWorks are the spirit of teamwork and the drive toward customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
 
Life: Outside of work, you’ll find Miki rooting for the Ottawa Senators, reading, gaming, watching movies, and hanging out with family and friends.
 
Richard
 
Work: Richard has been a part of the MapleWorks team for many years, and so, many people have been able to enjoy working with him. His favorite part of being at MapleWorks is the variety that occurs in his days. Besides the technical challenges, Richard also enjoys the business side.
 
Life: Outside of work, you’ll find Richard tinkering with PCs or enjoying a good book.
 
Yi
 
Work: Yi had been a member of the MapleWorks team for almost as long as MapleWorks has been around. Prior to joining the team, Yi was a part of Siemens’ Technology Innovation Center. He enjoys the challenge and variety of working with different projects and customers at MapleWorks.
 
Life: Outside of work, you’ll find Yi enjoying Jazz music or various outdoor activities. And he likes to tinker with new technologies too!
 
Jeff
 
Work: Prior to joining MapleWorks, Jeff worked in a variety of roles at Nortel and other software companies. His experience with the development process stretches across the entire product creation cycle. Some of the things that Jeff enjoys about being part of the MapleWorks team are the diversity of using different technologies and the integration of the technology into different customer business models. This variety keeps the workday interesting.
 
Life: Jeff likes to tackle home improvement projects and automotive repair. On the lighter side, he also enjoys a good Broadway musical, skiing, and is looking for a new summer hobby.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Gordon
 
Work: Gordon joined MapleWorks as Team Lead, and has been promoted to Software Development Manager. He is responsible for a very successful long-term project at MapleWorks. The team has won three recognition awards for its achievements in customer satisfaction in the past year. Gordon joined MapleWorks with an extensive education in Computer Sciences and a strong background in network software technology and customer service. He has been educated at several Academic Institutions including Nanjing University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dalhousie University and has worked with several well-known companies across North America.
 
Life: Gordon enjoys canoeing and fishing. He also enjoys reading Business Week and watching Business News Network. He finds the business world fascinating and enjoys hearing about the market place and business developments around the world.
 
Yangong
 
Work: Prior to joining MapleWorks, Yangong worked at RIM and KlocWork, among others. He has worked on some fascinating projects including robotic arms! Two of the best things about working at MapleWorks are the people and the culture. We work hard to make our customers successful and we still take time to enjoy working together.
 
Life: Outside of work, you’ll find Yangong listening to music or playing basketball, or a variety of other pastimes.
 
Young (Suny)
 
Work: Suny is a well respected member of any team that he participates on. Prior to joining MapleWorks, he worked at Sequoia on a variety of projects including digital video delivery and playback, as well as web portals. His favorite part of being at MapleWorks is the people. They make the days quite enjoyable.
 
Life: Outside of work, you’ll find Suny out for a relaxing walk, or at home reading or surfing the web.
 
Cooper
 
Work: Cooper is a software engineer at MapleWorks and, prior to joining MapleWorks, worked on developing a SIP phone in embedded hardware. The best thing about working at MapleWorks is the culture of continuous learning. Every new project has a slightly different twist to it and Cooper likes to be able to increase his expertise.
 
Life: Outside of work, you’ll find Cooper spending lots of time with his two year old son.
